Description

Choose Original Text or Quick Text

"Cursed be the hands that formed you!"
It was the dawn of science and technology. Anything seemed possible – even the creation of life itself. Victor Frankenstein becomes obsessed with this idea and works relentlessly to prove his theories; but the glory he imagined becomes a living nightmare – not only for him, but for his friends and family too.
Mary Shelley’s gothic horror story is presented as a full-colour graphic novel that is true to this classic tale, bringing this fantastic story to life!
As with all our Classic titles the period is faithful to the author’s intentions, and there is a choice of two text versions.
The books also include a history of Mary Shelley’s intriguing life and how the idea came to her on the banks of Lake Geneva... where a monster was born!

Frequently Asked Questions

Which text version is right for me?

For our Shakespeare plays, we create 3 text versions:

Plain text

The entire play as a full colour graphic novel.
In order to be true to the Bard's works, our Shakespeare titles feature the entire script, unabridged, in the original setting. That is our starting point - the "Original Text".

Plain Text

The entire play translated into plain English.
Our research revealed how the complex Shakespeare language can deter many readers, especially those coming to a play for the first time. To cater for that, we publish a translation into plain English (from the entire script) that we call "Plain Text".

Quick Text

The entire play in quick modern English for a fast-paced read.

We took this process a stage further to create our third reading level, "Quick Text", that features reduced and simplified dialogue for younger and reluctant readers. This version is also ideal for students where English is not the first language, and also for a quick introduction to the play for even mature students.

For our Literary Fiction titles, we create 2 text versions:

Original Text

The full story with minor abridgement to fit the graphic novel format.

Quick Text

A reduced simplified dialogue version of the Original Text for a fast-paced read.

There is no Plain Text version as the language of the Original Text doesn’t require modernisation.
